Farleigh originated as a racehorse & performance horse stud, with winners in many fields. Showjumpers & eventers had successful careers & were sold overseas (NZ & Japan) & several successful hacks were bred & shown. As commitments to family & property increased- Farleigh is a 3,000 acre grazing property in Armidale NSW Australia- smaller show horses ponies looked a more attractive prospect.

From the established broodmare band mares were selected with looks & temperament & through Mrs. Bud Hyem  Big Hat(GB) was acquired- a superlative hack sire. He joined the lovely Some Lute(FR) and then Mrs. Helen Clift offered the sweet natured Takarri Jonathon.

Furzey Kit-cat (Syon Royal Portrait(imp) x Furzey Catoushka ) came from world renown artist Mrs. Mary Pinsent, together with several of her broodmares and his offspring started to excel in the show ring.

More imported bloodlines were aquired with King Lodge Jeremy Fisher (Janinos Little Joker (imp) x Hamptonne Heaven Sent (imp), who left several lovely fillies on the ground before his untimely death. Pendley Gold Cup (imp) and Kolbeach Royalty have also been used as outcrosses with success.

A trip to the UK resulted in the importation of a superb colt bred by John & Carol Gould. Trellech Enigma (imp) is passing on his looks, elegance & height, which should come as no surprise as he is by the supremely successful Cusop Fingerprint and out of the lovely Trellech Spirit of Spring – a British National Champion at two years, who is related to HM the Queen’s TB Sanbal."Trellech Enigma(imp) is the only stallion by Cusop Fingerprint in Australia."

Broodmares now include the bloodlines of many imported Riding Pony stallions as well as the Thoroughbred bloodlines of Hyperion (Big Hat (GB) and Better Boy (IRE).

2007 has had its high points including a very successful Grand Nationals for the offspring of Furzey Kit-cat. Farleigh Nimrod’s young stock have now entered the show ring with great success and all seem to have his superb temperament. The thoroughbred stallion Samos has had a wonderful representative in New Zealand in Farleigh Unique. The outbreak of Equine Influenza has been a preventable blow, but we have been lucky so far in avoiding the disease, just suffering from its consequences. However, it has coincided with a fantastic early summer season, which we now can enjoy without a break as there are no shows to interrupt!
