HOME REMEDY CORNER

 

Cold & Flu fighter tea

 

A warming drink to support the immune system and soothe coughs and sore throats.

 

Bring 1 litre of water to the boil and add:

1 tablespoon of honey

2 teaspoons of fresh grated ginger

1 lemon sliced (leave skin on)

1 cinnamon stick or ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder

6 cloves

1 clove garlic

¼ teaspoon of fresh chopped chilli

 

Continue to boil for 1 minute. Allow to cool slightly and drink at a warm temperature throughout the day.

 

ECHINACEA

 

Why everyone should keep it on hand

Everyone has heard of Echinacea. AND – everyone should have Echinacea in their cupboard at home. It is a widely used herb for those symptoms of colds and flu and other mild upper respiratory complaints. It can assist to reduce the severity and lead to earlier resolution of mild upper respiratory tract symptoms.

 

Echinacea acts as an “immune stimulant”. It is also used to modulate immune function in allergies and autoimmunity, but more commonly to enhance resistance to infections (particularly of the upper respiratory tract), so can be used as a prevention to colds/flu.

 

A good herb to have on hand in your home dispensary. Available in Clinic – Practitioner Only products containing standardized properties and dosages to ensure maximum therapeutic effect. Tablet - Echinacea in tablet form as the herb alone or combined in complexes with other herbs and nutrients for more specific conditions. Liquid Extract - Also available in liquid extract form which can be combined with other liquid herbs on an individual prescription basis.
