Absorbency
Eco Bedding [corrugated cardboard] gives excellent absorption properties. Corrugated cardboard bedding is generally found to be 3 times more absorbent than wood shavings. Urine finds its way quickly through the top bedding to the floor where the bottom layers start absorbing immediately; you end up with the smallest area possible leaving the rest of the bedding free from contamination and greatly reducing ammonia levels. The top surface remains dry, making the stable comfortable and dry.

Comfort
Due to the corrugations of the cardboard the bedding has spring and cushioning qualities, provides a warm and inviting bed.

Once the Eco bedding was laid down you could actually notice its spring and cushioning qualities under foot, the next step was putting the pony in for the trial.

Cleaning: well at first I was not sure on how good this product would be absorbing but the next morning I was impressed! Cleaning the manure out was easy, simply run the rake under the manure and then a side to side action soon saw the bedding separate, leaving the manure to be thrown out. Next the wet spots, normally with this pony I could take out 2 plus rubbish bins of just the wet shavings each morning. With the ECO bedding you could just see smallish areas indicating the wet spots, lightly running the stable fork [like raking leaves] over the top and around the sides I could easily separate the dry bedding to uncover the wet bedding.

Now I mentioned before I was a little concerned on how the cardboard would absorb, well I certainly did not need to worry about that – the Eco bedding had absorbed and contained the urine to a rather smallish area compared to the shavings [hence removal of wet and manure was down to 1 bin] Also it was noted that there was less odours and removal even though wet, the bedding was still easier to manage.

Another big plus for those like myself that come from the old school, it was a breeze to flick the bedding up against the wall allowing the stable to air for the day. Laying down the bedding as stated before is easy; you can achieve a lovely even bed and the bedding springs back so well with the toss of the stable rake.

At the end of the week…. well lets just say all my horses are now on Eco Bedding and my biggest praise of this product would be it is so darn easy to work with it, then the fact it is dustless and absorbs so well.

I have now had Eco bedding down for over a month and still impressed, finding a bag when needed to top up is all that is needed and by tossing the bed up creates a soft cushy bed each time. One of our horses used to have a niggly cough each morning, that and my sinus problem have ceased.

Another plus my local gardener who takes the entire stable waste each week loves the end result! He had read about this product before I put it in and was eager for me to change over from shavings to more bio-degradable product.
