Say Hello to the paddock Vacuums. Serious… apart from the fact your going to cut down your ‘pasture management time’ the benefits of vacuuming your paddocks are:

Even with rotation of paddocks, worm eggs and larvae can survive on a pasture from the autumn until mid-summer the following year, regular removal of manure from paddocks is an excellent way of preventing the development of latrine areas, and reduces the potential build up of larvae on the pasture.

With the risk of parasites being resistant to some wormers it is essential to try to keep conditions for larvae survival out of the equation – again only total commitment to your pastures been kept clean is so important

You know from experience picking up paddocks is not easy, and there is no way to pick up completely every piece of manure and forget about been able to pick up any larvae in the area of that manure deposit… with the Greystone Paddock Vac not only are the droppings removed in the cleaning process but you can scoot around the area for any little misfits hanging on = cleaner, fresher and healthy paddocks.

Tried and Tested… Greystone Paddock Vac’s

Up to now buying a paddock vacuum was well out of most horse owners reach and pay packet, today thanks to the innovation of Greystone Paddock Vac’s owner David Oberhofer all horse owners have the opportunity of moving into this century of pasture care for their horses.

Before you race out and buy just any paddock cleaner…stop we have been fortunate to have trailed the Greystone Paddock Vac for the last 3 years and their unit has come up trumps on all fronts.

Firstly and most important is the attention to design, and within the design the practicality of the actual unit lasting! *trust me not all paddock cleaners are the same, this unit has been designed with support in all the right places. It has an extra large filter – this is very important for Australian conditions!

The mould of the holding department is very strong PVC designed to with stand a full load of wet or dry manure, we witnessed no warping of the PVC holding unit.

The under carriage trailer support is spot on! again designed to last and withstand Australian conditions, all welding is of the highest quality and structurally even under the scrutinise eyes of a professional welder the unit was given the thumbs up.

Powerful suction …you better believe it and easy to use, our young James shown in the photos whips around the paddocks in the no time [funny since having the Greystone Paddock Vac bribes for the younger generation are not needed to clean paddocks – as they all find it a buzz to do] but for the times I actually beat them to cleaning I found the unit easy to use, sure at first there is a little time adjusting to handling the nozzle, the rule here is don’t try and use it like a normal house vacuum! The idea is to sort of bounce it around and on the manure pile.

Easy to unload, the unit has two snap clips positioned at the rear door, simply open the catches lock the door into position, flick the steel pin key and tilt…  easy as that. We found to save double handling of the manure we designed the property with a super wide tree plantations fenced off, so take each load up them and unload providing some mulch for the trees as well as saving our backs.

You can tow the unit the behind your ride-on lawn mower ! that’s right you don’t have to race out and buy a quad bike or a small tractor, if you have a ride on lawn mower that is all you need…  this could differ if you go for a larger Greystone Vac and your property is very hilly but for normal horse paddocks you should be fine with your ride-on.

All in all, after using the Greystone Paddock Vac paying special attention to its design and if this design will hold up and last the distance we are happy with all aspects that their units have to offer….  So our advice is go for the units in Blue! they are a winner and an investment to your horse’s future of health and you spending more time riding than cleaning.
