Monica
and I soon settled into a routine with the bandage
changes. I would remove the bandage, clean the leg and
Monica would re-dress and re-bandage. We decided the leg
would be treated with Equaide a somewhat controversial
treatment imported from the USA known as "the proved
flesh eliminator" this magic in a bottle worked a treat
at NO STAGE did we have to "de bride" any proud flesh
because we didn’t get any!! The treatment was simple and
basic after the leg was cleaned the flesh was rinsed
with saline and Equaidee was applied and Jelonet
was went on the exposed bone and the while leg was re
bandaged. After the first two weeks we used nothing but
Equaide and the results were sensational. Many weren’t
keen on us using the product but I had seen what it
could do when Monica showed me photos of an injury one
of her fillies had done during a fight with a stable
door and after speaking to the company that makes the
product I was convinced to try it. I now have a bottle
permanently in my vet box (with luck I will never need
it)
Once
the bone was filled in we decided it was time to put
Libby out in a yard. I held my breath as I let her go
and hoped she didn’t loose it completely, well she
trotted up and down for a couple of minutes and then
went to talk to the horse in the next yard, not bad for
a horse that had been locked up for three months! |
