With record entries from SA and interstate, the picturesque Polo Grounds at Strathalbyn set the stage for what would be a fantastic show. Judges Robin Collier and Dianne Kimpton from New Zealand did well to cope in the hot conditions, with temperatures up in the mid 30’s for both days. Saturdays events started early with the Young Judges competition.  Ashley Porter spoke with the Young Judges before their event to guide them through the process.  Best Young judge was won by current Welsh Young Ambassador, Fenella Barker.

Judge Robin Collier was presented with many quality Welsh Mountain Ponies.  3yr old Filly, Vanoca Park Picture who was awarded Best Youngstock Welsh Mountain Pony went on to win the Ceulan Trophy for Supreme Welsh Mountain exhibit, much to the delight of owner Ashley Porter.  Ashley continued his success with his Welsh Mountain foal, Vanoca Park Lady-Smith winning Best Foal of Show.

Rivington stud had a wonderful weekend exhibiting twelve ponies, with eleven winning their classes and one a 2nd. Isabelle Barker led Rivington Ascot (3yr old) to Reserve Champion WM colt, Rivington Folk Melody (yearling) to Reserve WM filly, Rivington Lyric 1st WM 2yr old filly, Rivington Hurrah 2nd 3yr old WM filly, Rivington Royal Hiccup to 1st WM dry mare. Fenella Barker led Rivington Vyvyan to Reserve WM stallion. Rivington Spring Rain was Champion Welsh Mountain Stallion, the stunning stallion simply floated across the arena. The studs wins were not confined to the WM ring, their success extended to the Welsh B and Cob sections as well, the highlight been when Rivington Stud won the trophy for Most Successful Exhibitor, an award the stud has won many, many times over at the SA All Welsh Show.
