CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Open to the ten (10) finalists of the 2008 Barastoc Horse of the Year Show Open Saddle Classes and the five (5) winners of the VASA Open Saddle Section Classes. the Melbourne Royal Show champions and the champion and reserve champion Barastoc newcomer. The winners of the Owner Rider section are reserves and may be invited if numbers fall below those invited

In the show hunter classes, the champion and reserve from all three championships over 14hh in the 2006 show may enter, giving a class of six.

All three pony champions and reserves may enter the pony classes giving a class of six.

If numbers fall below six, the VASA show hunter winners from the same class as the vacancy may be invited.

Classes – Hacks, Galloways, Large Ponies, Small Ponies and Shetland, Show Hunter over 14hh and Show Hunter 14hh and under.

The Barastoc Organising Committee to reserve the right to select which horses are accepted to this event.

Judging will take place in the Second Indoor Arena, on Saturday, commencing at 5.00pm.

It is not necessary for the horse/pony to be ridden and/or owned by the same person/s, as at the time of qualifying, but horses, Galloways and ponies sold out of Victoria since qualifying may not enter.

Should an animal change height category after qualifying for the International Challenge, they are permitted to compete in the current measured height section. 

Where there was an age limit on the rider (ie Shetland and Small Pony) the same rider may compete, even if they have turned fifteen (15) since the time of qualifying.

All riders and owners must be financial members of the Equestrian Federation of Australia at the time of entry and on the day of competition.

WORKOUTS

Each horse/pony will be required to perform a two (2) minute workout of the rider/owners choice to music. Music for the ride must be supplied on CD or live.. NO TAPES  - and handed in to the office by 4pm on Saturday..

At the end of two (2) minutes a bell will sound to signal the end of the workout. The rider must leave the arena on the sound of the bell. Arena size – 70m x 30m.

PRACTICE TIMES

By arrangement with the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre Manager, prior to the Show. Not in the week leading up to the Show.

DINNER

Admission to the competition venue will be restricted to those persons who have purchased a Dinner Ticket. Other details –

  • A two (2) course buffet style dinner will be provided.

  • A maximum of three hundred (300) tickets will be available.

  • Rectangular tables of ten (10) to provide best viewing options.

  • Tickets cost $  per person - children under 10 $

  • Tables of 10 available.

Wine, beer, soft drinks and water will be available at bar prices. (BYO – Not permitted)

There will be no free viewing area provided for riders and/or owners. Riders and/or owners must have a dinner ticket to enter the Indoor Arena. This will be strictly policed. Riders and/or owners found abusing these conditions may be disqualified from the competition.

It is expected that tickets to the Dinner will sell very quickly. If you are interested in attending, please apply and pay for your Dinner Tickets on the entry form enclosed.
