We feel that with so many Senior age horses galloways and ponies being shown this section will develop quickly and be as popular as they are in England.

Horses entered in the Senior horse/Galloway/big pony/small pony/ Shetland championships MAY enter any other class at the show for which they are eligible.

Senior animals must be 12 years old or more, as at the 1st August 2011 may be asked to produce proof of this.

Horses/ponies that have suffered injuries in the past resulting in scarring or blemishes, will not be penalized, providing the horse/pony has completely recovered and is showing no signs of discomfort.

The horse/pony may be of any breed or type and native ponies may be presented in accordance with its breed/type.

The judges will not ride the Seniors in the ridden classes.

No horse/pony is expected to gallop within any Senior Horse Showing class. Only Walk, Trot and Canter will be marked during the classes. All other paces, i.e. counter-canter, rein-back, flying changes, will not be counted.

Showing cane/whip exceeding 76cm (30”) is not permitted.

Clipping is permitted and will not be penalized if performed for the health of the Senior horse/pony.

Senior horses galloways ponies and shetlands may compete in any other class on the program for which they are eligible.

  • There is no restriction on rider age in any class

  • This section will be judged in Indoor Arena No 1

  • Champions are invited to parade during the judging of the International Challenge on Saturday evening.
