Am I the only woman who loves her car? :-)

I have been spending a little money on the car this week (major service, new tyres etc) & it got me thinking.

I LOVE my car. I was talking to OH & asked him what will I ever do when my car gets to old or stuffed and I need to find a new one.

I have a V8 Holden adventra. Its just fantastic & I havent had any issues with it, its big enough for the kids & all their crap.

Its big enough for all my mobile business and all my horse stuff. I can fit 6- 25kg bags of horse feed in the back & still fit another if I really had to.

Holden dont make a wagon anymore as big in the back as this and I just cant imagine what I will do if anything happens to it. I love towing with it and just driving in general.

Am I crazy or is their more of us out there. :-)

Yep love my utes, probably more so in the past then now as I have a Crusier.

3 years ago had a B&S ute which I adored, had everything on it and everyone used to think it was his not mine. He used to say that was the only reason why he went out with me was my ute and my realality check to him was I only shacked up with him was that he was a mechanic and could fix said ute.

That car isn't suitable for pretty little ladies like yourself. Why don't you hand it over to a man and ask him to buy you a nice pink toyota corolla with fluffy mats? Make sure it's an automatic too 'cause manual gearboxes are for men!

I had a 2 door manual Mitsubishi Lancer for the past 5 years, I loved it and never thought I would sell it, till someone offered me a reasonable offer and now she has gone to a girl who loves her as much as I did...

Now I have a Mitsubishi Triton (manual again :-O)...a new shiney one...with nearly all the extras, and I think I have decided I love it more than I ever loved the little Lancer, although it still holds a place in my heart. Like the Mitsi slogan goes "Love That Car"

YES!!!

Love my Falcons (okay, my *parents'* falcons...) and would love to have a BA XR6, ute or not, doesn't matter (damn you P plate restrictions, that's the newest model allowed)... I keep begging my dad to let me put some blue dashboard LEDs in but no luck so far :-(

(Oddly enough, he doesn't like the idea of a sports exhaust, some nice rims or a professional lowering job either... won't even get it tinted...)

Wouldn't say no to a nice Skyline or WRX either, mind you :-O

(Edited to add a comment about restrictions)

I inherited my grandfather's immaculate 1992 Celica last year - just love the Sillycar! I had a one year old car that we'd bought brand new, my first ever new car and a lovely little thing, but we got rid of it when we got the Celica.

You can even get 3 sacks of feed in the boot!

Yep, love my silver Lancer :-) it was love at first sight! It's a four door & has the Evo 6 bodykit with a nice purring exhaust, Lenso rims & Momo race-style steering wheel (which is legal as it's part of the factory sports kit). My Dad currently races a (proper) Lancer Evo 6 & has always raced Mitsubishis so I was brought up as a Lancer fan. He'd love to put a turbo on it for me but I don't want to get defected! It sounds like it has one anyway... :-O

I'd love a nice, sleek ute one day too...

Yes I loooooved my car - a 1987 VL commodore - I bought it as a project car when I was between horses. I began doing it up, but then got another horse, and ran out of money for the car :-O

I actually sold it last week as I finally bought myself a 'sensible' 4WD, and I had a big cry when they drove him away :-(

I love the fact that my 94 121 is still going even though I haven't had it serviced for 4 years lol!

Does that count?

I don't get the car thing.

Up until I hurt my back I had a 2005 Cagiva X Raptor 1000cc motorcycle - now THAT was something I loved. Only 999 ever made... dripping in carbon fibre... very sexy bike.

Gone to someone who can actually still ride a motorcycle now though. That was a sad, sad sale. :-(

But I figure if I can ride a horse again, that will be enough for me.

IF I can ride again I'll be getting a truck and I will finally understand feeling love for more than two wheels. :-O

I bought a brand new mazda 2 last year. His name is Murphy and he is so much fun to drive :-O For a small car it accelerates really fast! And the best part is I get 450-500km to a tank and it only costs me $30-35 to fill up!
And as Connie has said, I can also park my car in the tiniest places. It's so handy!

Shakia we have a black SS with red seats :-) 6sp 6 ltr :-) It has a stack of safety stuff and the V8 that drops back to a 4 cylinder while you are driving -unreal- but getting black was silly when we have a dirt road lol

Loved my Pathfinder 07 turbo D - would get another - towed well, went well and there was nothing that wouldn't fit in the back - we even fit a big fridge in there :-)

My favourite car though was a probably our 77 LX SS Torana hatchy. Would love another one as Sunday car :-) lol at BSR

Yep love cars :-)

I love my ute too! It's a 1990 V6 VG Commodore. It has 450 000km+ on it and drives more like a diesel than a petrol these days but she's as honest as and just keeps on keeping on. I'm going to have to update asap but that probably won't be for a couple more years yet. I would really like a Navara or Triton turbo diesel ute. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the old girl when I eventually do upgrade. I already have two other cars sitting around. My old beaten up VN Commodore I can't part with coz we've been through so much together but the VL Commodore is for sale as I can't keep collecting them.

Should have added I love cars in general. Big thumping V8's mostly. Can't stand those turbo powered rice burners. One of my favourite things to do is go to the drags or V8 Supercars. Winternats was awesome and I can't wait for the New Years Series at Willowbank.

I have a Toyota Hilux and I love her to bits.

Yeah, she's old (89)and yeah, she's starting to look it. Yeah, she has a few dings now (including a bloody great dent in the front from the roo I hit recently). Yeah, four cylinder and not much oomph - lovely low first gear though. Yeah, she has the turning circle of a whale and is hard to park.

Yeah, she's pretty basic, no computer (yay), and (boo, the downside) has no safety features.

But I luffs her. Honest and reliable as the day is long, never lets me down. Can count on one hand (touch wood) the number of times things have gone wrong. Has been out on a crappy dirt road to the horses once every day (and sometimes twice and three times) every day since the day I bought her, all those years ago.

Probably noone could love her but me - but I don't care - I love my ute :-)

I love my car. Every girl needs a V8 don't they? :-O This is what is looked like before it was stolen. Some *insert HEAPS of red dots* stole it from Chadstone shopping centre and stole the wheels, the stereo and all my horse gear from the boot :-(

1

We were lucky to get it back but it's just not the same anymore. Oh well, it's time to sell her and get a newer car.

Yes!!

I bought myself a VE SS-V ute and I love it. Always wanted a V8 ute and am so glad I bought it. Haven't got around to modifying it at all because it's been my towing car, but o/h picks up his new car tomorrow which will take over towing duties so I'm starting to get ideas... :-)

I absolutely LOVE the old Ford GT Coupes - my jaw drops when I see a nice one out. Same with Chargers! Sad thing is, my dad and his brothers used to race them at speedway back in the day, nearly brings tears to my eyes all those beautiful cars busted up now :-O

I looove my 2004 Nissan Patrol wagon. I used to tow with a worn out Fairlane, and then looked at Prados and Pajeros until my friend/instructor talked me into the Patrol. I love it to bits and all my friends laugh because I drive a "man truck" and I am all of 5'1!! :-)

Very nice tinat, zampari i have been looking at buying a navara D22 as an up grade from my ute but decided a house is probably a little better idea (sometimes i wish that side of my brain didnt work and i could just spend). My parents have a brand spanking new navara the D40 though and it is hot! Although im with DG On one thing there is nothing sexier than a V8

I love Cameron the Camry '92 model. She's put up with a lot and has some nice dings but has been a great first car.
I will be very sad when I upgrade her to a Holden SS Sportswagon early next year.

I do love our Holden SV6 too.. she's pretty noice!

I used to love my car.

Then I got a car as a part of my package.

Got to choose the car, but nup, I doan love it.

It goes from A to B. If it doesn't, I call a number, and get one that will.

It's a nice car.

But it's not "mine".

CMS - same. Sounds a bit lame but I sold my little old Barina when I left my old job. I miss it - it never missed a beat. Not flash I know but solid, reliable, and faster than you think :-O

Now I drive a 'soccer mum' mobile - not mine but at least it's paid for by the company :-O

I love my little car too. It's only a little nissan micra, but is quite zippy for a little car, easy to park and I get 500-600km from a tank for $40-50.

I'm going to miss it when we sell it in a few months, but it just isn't big enough to fit a baby seat and baby things in.

My first car was a rebuilt little Mazda 121 hatch that my grandad fixed after an accident by basically combining two cars together. He was a panel beater and did an amazing job. That little thing was great- could fit so much feed in the back with the seats down, and even when I hit 2 kangaroos in it, it had hardly a mark on it. I cried driving away when I traded it in. :-(

Our other car is a GXL wagon, it's so nice to drive with it's power steering but I hate parking the thing. And it annoys me that it doesn't have central locking from both sides! It has a towbar though! :-O

I’ve got a Hilux too Woolly (mine’s an 85 Extra Cab) and I love her to bits :-) She was the first car I ever owned that had hazard lights and intermittent wipers ! Like yours, mine is pretty basic as well.

But, she’s on the road every day and in all the time I’ve had her, she’s only stuck me up a couple of times.

I too luff my Hilux …..

It's not love as in 'Im going to make it faster and musclier' kind of way (Which is probably a good thing, seeing as it is a Hyundai :P), but rather the "Im going to keep it clean and shiney' sort of way!
Im quite attached to my little 'Holly' :-)

Evi - don't know how to upload pics, but we have an XR GT (the one featured in the posters advertising the black 40th anniversary) a couple of Cobra's, 40th Anniversary GT's and an EL GT. All with very very low KM's

Hubby is a little 'pedantic' about his cars but he wants to get the rest of the GT's and open a museum later down the track.

Wish we had a HO Phase III LOL LOL

Nice car Bootsnall!!

I always get attatched to my cars. They always have names and I find they have personalities.

I recently sold our little run around Lani (a lantra) and she was such a sweet car.

I currently have a jeep cherokee who I call Dixie, she is a bit sassy! I love her because for some reason I always wanted a jeep.

Our other car is a GU patrol ute, love him too. He just keeps on going! Goes everywhere, we have spent so much getting him to how we want him and feel a real connection to it. He is the car we take camping, and four wheel driving and touring, and I feel like he is literally one of the family. My partner and I both agree we will drive him till his wheels fall off, and even then he will sit in the yard so we can pat him when we go past lol.

He is tough, and rugged and a he just tries his heart out at whatever you put him at.

I love my girls too (thats what I call them :-))
My little light blue Mitsubishi Colt, bought her last year because she had a horsie name.

My light blue Ford Explorer, she is getting on but she treats me well and always give her a pat :-).

My blue motorbike, Ninja 250, she is also a good girl, but will part with her when I can upgrade to a bigger bike, but I don't really want to part with her though :-(

I think I treat them all like the other pets lol

Wow Chee! I would love to see them but probably don't have to say this to you, but please keep your number plate and location to yourself if you do there have been a few stolen and stripped around here lately :-(

Even the replica's are bringing good $ My father is re-building one and has cost them so far about $85K and it's not finished - yikes! Funny as they only cost $4625 in 1971 but there was only 300 phase III's made apparently there are only about 150 left :-( Hindsight huh!

They have a bit of a collection too including a Phase III and a genuine A9X red and black hatchie :-)

Lnm funny I had the some conversation with my OH when he asked if we could swap cars today...don't think so :-)

Thanks Bluehorse - we always keep locations etc a secret. You just never know who is looking and listening do you?

It's hard to be sure you have a genuine GT these days, the crooks have gotten good at reproducing them aren't they?

Hubby always shakes his head about the price of them now, they were so cheap all those years ago but who could have imagined how valuable they would have become!

I have dual reg dirt/road bike too, mainly ride her on dirt, she is named Daisy, so I have Dixie the car and Daisy the bike.

This may demonstrate the difference between male and female, but our patrol is just called Patrol cause my partner mainly drives, and his bike is just called the red b***h.. (crf450x enduro weapon)

Tinat - when OH asked someone in town about their wagon, it's been back 5 times for gearbox probs & it's only 3mths old. Guy at Landmark is the same, his has been back 3 times in the time he's owned it. I was going to buy an SS-V but it's tow cap is poor & the wagon can tow 2100kgs, so I can use it if I still need to tow the float for some reason & can't use the 4WD. Not really worried what I can fit in the back :-) we still have the WB & also the cruiser (work ute) :-) so pretty safe there!!!!!

i have two cars that i love.. the 78 series cruiser.. (o/h truck).
but i love love love my datto..
been in my family since brand new.. no rust.. ive had it now for about 3 years.. re built the 2.0l motor,.. loved that, but the compression is too high, so its never reliable and it could never be a daily..

so the 78 datto is currently getting yet another transplant..

sr20det out of an 2001 nissan s15 silvia.. it is seriously going to get up and boggie when its done...!
i am the mechanic.. but afew times (like cutting the intercooler pipe holes) i had to go in side..
i didnt want my baby boy getting hurt. ha

i have been offered quie abit of money for it.. but it isnt going anywhere!

love any old muscle cars though!!

Shes a little bit different with the spotties on the roof and in front. Get a bit upset when my dad needs it. And am starting a bit of a sticker collection as well. I thinks if i werent pending all the $$ on the horses i'd be modifying my car a bit more heheh

I've always been into my cars :-) I had minis when I first started driving and loveeed them!

Then I got a 'sensible' car, a laser, and just wasn't happy, lol.

Loved my disco and cried when I traded it in much to the horror of the car salesman! Love my xtrail now.
