1st Junior Show Hunter Horse
S P HAVANA |
Well today was the first day of the Barastoc
Ruby HOY show, normally I would be busting
to tell everyone all about the kick off to
this great show, especially as this is the
big one ..the Ruby Anniversary, but sadly
this years show opens while Victorians are
facing our biggest disaster with over 1,000
homes have been destroyed and while the
official death toll remains at 181, police
say they expect the final figure could be
more than 300 when more burned-out homes are
searched, try as I may I just can not
comprehend how do I write about an event
which is our big one, our Ruby Anniversary
with buzz and hype, while respecting the
absolute shocking toll it has taken on our
community at large. While Ash Wednesday was
horrific, it did not impact on the horse
community in the way this one has, so, so
many fellow horse men and woman have been
affected, so many horses have died, it
really has or should I say is the week from
hell, as it’s not over yet.
The Barastoc show was never in doubt of
going ahead, they said they would go ahead
for the good of the horse world and they
would be able to offer people a chance to
heal and be amongst their own, although many
may be missing from the line-ups wether due
to having lost everything, or making the
choice like myself to stay put incase the
winds turn, the show is under way.. no doubt
the Barastoc show will be a refuge for those
there. |
