"The
2005 Equitana event was a big success. The exhibition was flat out on
the Friday and Saturday and a little quieter Sunday and Monday.
Visitors were spending up big at the stands, there were usually long
queues at the Horseland and Saddleworld cash registers and
bargain-hunters were happy to stagger back to their cars clutching bags
bulging with horsey goodies.
There was lots of free horse feed samples on offer, and various
celebrities were kept busy signing autographs. Stars of McLeod's
Daughters Simmone Jade MacKinnon (who plays Stevie Hall) and Brett
Tucker (Vet, David Brewer) were mobbed for three hours solid at the
Virbac stand. Stuart Tinney had his Olympic 3DE gold medal on hand at
the Coprice stand and was also fighting off writer's cramp autographing
posters.
The individual education programs were also a big hit...Guy McLean was
especially popular and it was always 20-deep around the Barastoc
demonstration arena during his displays.
The Cavalcade, Reins of Fire at the Rod Laver arena drew mixed reviews,
but star of the show Jean March Imbert was brilliant with his
bridle-less displays and hair-raising trick riding.
