December 2008

Angel Wings couldn't bring us more joy if she tried!  Awarded EFA NAtional Leading Rein Pony on the first day of the Nationals competition, together with Daizi and Dale, they produced a great workout to win this title.

We are pretty sure this hasn't been done in the past, but on the second day of competition, Angel together with Grace Hill worked out for the Open Small Pony award and produced a truely wonderful workout to be declared the EFA Small Pony of the Year 2008. picutred opposite.

We were overcome, she is such a special pony to us, were we so delighted with the lovely workout Grace and Angel produce - we were just so proud!!  Thank you Grace, and better partnership we couldn't have dreamed of!

Hello-Dolly [below photo] was next to compete, and although she didn't place, we were so proud of our own, home bred baby out their representing Victoria.

She was a little awestruck in the arena, but produced a good solid workout.  Thank you to Chanele for guiding our young girl around, hopefully we can make it again, this time with a little more mileage under our belt!

November 2008
Angel Wings competed at the Hack Council Hygain Masters successfully, winning both the Leading Rein and the Small Pony sections.  Angel was unanimously voted as the winner in the Small Pony section.

Equitana Asia Pacific - both our girls did extremely well, Angel Wings winning the Small pony section and Hello-Dolly pictured on the left, winning the Large section.  Much to our surprise, Hello-Dolly took out the Supreme Champion Saddlehorse Award.  She worked beautifully in the fabulous indoor arena.  Congratulations to Chanele and Grace for their dedication and being available to ride at Equitana.

We have been busy covering our mares, all are in foal with the exception of dear old Reflection who is due to have her bub on the 21st December.  We are delighted to have another successful Embryo Transfer on the way for Fenwick Carmen (imp).  This one was hard work!

We have sold our KRO broodmare Mirinda Touch of Diamonds.  She will be put in foal before she leaves and will be going to Carlingford Park with the Tomlinson Family in NSW.  We wish them losts of luck with her and look forward to hearing of the babies she produces for them.

We have also sold our little bay filly out of Radford Lodge Rosea.  Little 'Star' is also going to live in NSW once she is weaned.

Leanda In Honour has gelded and sold.  He has made his way to his new home in Whittlesea.

Leanda Hello-Mate [right], a full brother to Hello-Dolly has also been sold and will be making his way 'back to family' and will reside with his two older sisters Hello-Sailor and Hello-Darling - congratulations to Angela and Brian on another Hello baby!

October 2008

Fresh on from their outstanding Melbourne Royal, Angel Wings and Hello- Dolly then headed to the EFA State Titles in the first week of October.

Silkwood Angel Wings, accompanied by Dale and Daizi Plumb worked
kindly and were declared the Leading Rein winners.

Also to compete on the Saturday was Hello-Dolly who competed in the Newcomer Large Pony Section.  Although she has enjoed great success recently, she was still eligible to compete as a Newcomer at this State Titles Show, due to EI.  Her first show was on the 29th Jan 08, so she really hasn't seen alot, even though she has competed at
Adeliade and Melbourne Royals!

We were certainly surprised with the work she showed in this class, she definately worked like a green baby and we were so delighted with her being named EFA Newomer Large Pony 2008.

On the sunday, both girls were again on their best behaviour, Angel Wings winning the Small Pony section for the eond consecutive year, and Hello-Dolly in her first 'Newcomer' year bein able to take out the Runner Up Large Open Pony Section.

We are so delighted and excite to have both girls qualified to represent Victoria at the Nationals in December.

Whilst out at Melbourne Royal, Hello-Dolly has become a big sister to a dear little chestnut colt, with plenty of chrome.  He was born on the 24th December and is by Jacket's Bluebird.  He will be offered for sale and available at weaning.

October 2008
Well we could not be any more thrilled with our two girls, Silkwood Angel Wings and our home bred Leanda Hello Dolly.

Traveling across to Adelaide Royal was a worthy trip, Leanda Hello Dolly won her open ridden pony against a terrific line-up. This was only 11th show under saddle so it makes it very sweet win for us.

Angel Wings had nothing short of a terrific show, Champion Ridden Small Pony Hack, Champion Child's Ridden Pony and against a huge class she won the Champion Leading Rein Pony.

Then onto Melbourne Royal and still on a high from Adelaide, our dreams were set when Leanda Hello Dolly won the Champion Ridden Large Pony, her 12th show under saddle she worked a treat.

Silk wood Angel Wings went on to win, Champion Ridden Small Pony Hack, reserve Champion Child's Ridden Pony and she won the Champion Leading Rein Pony with young Daizi Plumb on-board.

late SEPTEMBER 2008

We welcomed a tiny bay filly from Radford Lodge Rosea on September 16th.  She has already been sold to Kayla and Kathy Guner of Langenhoe Park NSW.  Congratulations!!

Kirreway Floor-Show has produced her first out-cross foal for us by Jackets Bluebird (imp).  She delivered an upstanding chestnut colt on the 24th September - well marked with a blaze and near fore and hind full cannons.  He is a maternal half brother to our very successful Leanda Hello-Dolly and will be named Leanda Oh-Hello.

We only have one more mare to foal this season - Kirreway Reflection who has recently had another positive preg test.  She is due around Christmas time and we look forward to this bub with much excitement.  This one is 3 years in the making!

We have recently added another mare to our broodmare 'collection' and are delighted to finally anounce that we have purchased Silkwood Heaven Blessed, a half sister to Silkwood Heaven Can Wait.  She already has a positive preg test to KFAO and will foal early to mid August 2009.  Thank you to the Tomlinson Family of NSW for this lovely lady.

SEPTEMBER 2008

Some early September news before we head to Adelaide....

Stanton Park Tattle Tale has foaled on the 4th Sept, a few days early this year (much better than 6 weeks late like last year!) and has foaled a gorgeous bay filly, her first foal by KFAO, her name is Georgina.

Also foaling on the 4th was Kirreway Etchings - congratulations to Debbie Pratten on the arrival of a bay colt.  Pictures to follow shortly.

AUGUST 2008
Our girls Leanda Hello-Dolly and Silkwood Angel Wings attended Doreen and Corio Moorabool Pre Royals.  Both girls were Champion under saddle in the first ring, with Angel being Supreme Champion at Corio Moorabool. Angel Wings also carried Claudia (dressed as a Fairy) to a placing in the Fancy dress class during the lunchbreak.

The next day the ponies went to Tullamarine where Angel and Claudia competed in the Lead Rein Class.  It was Claudia's first real event and she was delighted to place 2nd.

Leanda Hello-Dolly was Champion Large Pony in ring 2, then Supreme Champion Ridden Exhibit.

Not a bad start for our girls!

MAY 2008
Our lovely broodmare Kirreway Etchings has been sold and has arrived in her new home in NSW. We wish the new owners well and look forward to hearing Etchings baby news at the end of August.  Our fingers are crossed for a black filly this time!

Leanda Hello-Darling has made her way to her new home in Victoria - we wish the new owners much success and enjoyment with 'Polly'.

MARCH 2008
For the first time in many years, and due to the Summer Royal being  moved to March, we took the opportunity to enter Angel and 2 babies for Sydney Royal.  Due to our business commitments, we are not often able to attend Sydney as it coincides directly with the Easter Holidays, and the busiest time of all for us with our Boarding Kennels for dogs and cats.

With the timetable for the show horses moved to the last 6 days of the Royal, it was the perfect time for us to go.  Usually our ponies are turned out in mid February, but again with the Summer Royal rescheduling to March, the ponies were in and ready to go.

Without taking Angel Wings, we would never have considered taking 'youngstock' up to Sydney.  It seemed logical to enter a couple of  babies, as we were heading up with a float - we thought we might as  well make it a full one!  Hello-There and All A Glitter also made the  trip with Angel Wings.

We had a lot of difficulty keeping Angel's coat, and can only put this  down to the EI vaccines required to attend.  She was clipped a number  of times between February and late March, and although she didn't have  her usual sparkle, she did us proud.  Ponies were judged by prominent  pony breeder Greg Gerry; our Angel Wings worked an absolute treat to  place 2nd in her open pony class, the winner of the class came up from  taking out 2nd place in the novice class the day prior.

She then competed in the child's pony class of approximately 40 ponies  (an open height child's class up to 14hh) to again work faultlessly to  take 2nd again.  No mean feat considering she was definitely the smallest in the final line up, if not the class.

The Saturday also saw the two youngsters compete in the Part-Welsh classes.  Leanda All A Glitter [pictured opposite] was sashed Reserve Champion Part Welsh  Mare or Filly, the Champion went on to be declared Supreme Part Welsh  In Hand Exhibit.  Leanda Hello-There won his led Gelding Part Welsh  class and was declared Best Part Welsh Gelding of the show.

Sunday brought the Riding Pony classes in which All A Glitter won her filly class and was sashed Reserve Champion led Mare or Filly.  Again, the mare that was Champion went on to be Supreme Champion Riding Pony.

Hello-There pictured on the right, also affectionately known as 'Walter Warde', was the winner of his gelding class and then declared Best Riding Pony Gelding in Hand.

The Melbourne Summer Royal was well attended by our Leanda Ponies.

Day 1, the mare and filly day saw us compete with 5 of our babies. I certainly under-estimated the number of helping hands and time needed  to get all of these ponies in the ring!

Leanda Fancy Pants 1st - led yearling Riding Pony filly n/e 11.3  1/2hh
Leanda Hello-Darling 3rd - led yearling Riding Pony filly n/e 12.3  1/2hh
Leanda All A Glitter (ET) 4th - led yearling Riding Pony filly n/e  12.3 1/2hh
Leanda Divine Miss 3rd - led 2yo Riding Pony filly
Leanda All That Glitters (ET) 1st ``-`led Riding Pony Foal

It was a thrill to have our two Fenwick Carmen girls attend the Summer Royal this year.  Tori (All That Glitters) behaved impeccably to take out the Riding Pony Foal Class.  Being an early August foal and having been weaned, she looked a little 'alone' in the foal class; as the  other foals had their mothers with them.  Thank you to David Warde for  handling her at the last moment for me, allowing me to prepare the  other ponies for their classes.

The second day of competition was for the boys, and two geldings did exceptionally well for the stud.  Congratulations to the Gorst Family  with Leanda Ace of Diamonds who won the yearling gelding class, a  great win on from his Champion Yearling Gelding at the 2008 Barastoc  show.

Leanda Hello-There, shown in conjunction with Kinloch Stables and handled by David Warde, won his led gelding 2yo class and stood  Reserve Champion led Youngstock Gelding.

The third day of competition saw two of our ponies compete in the  junior Part Welsh classes with Leanda All A Glitter being the winner  of the n/e 12.2hh colt, filly or gelding class and Leanda Hello-There  standing 3rd in the bigger class (n/e 13.3hh).

FEBRUARY 2008

Barastoc Horse of the Year Show

It is always such a long wait – when your first foal hits the ground to finally making it to the ring as a saddle pony, it seems like a lifetime of waiting.  We are delighted to say that our first Kirreway For All Occasions babies made their debut in the Victorian show ring with outstanding success!

In the Large Newcomer section at Barastoc 08, ‘Patrick’ (KFAO) was represented by two of his progeny – our own Leanda Hello-Dolly and Glyndebourne Monopoly, bred by John and the late Janet Petty, now owned by Tiffany Greenhill and Denise Burgoyne.  It was a huge thrill when Leanda Hello-Dolly was sashed Runner-Up Large Newcomer Pony of the year and it was topped off by Glyndebourne Monopoly taking out the Championship.  We couldn’t have been more thrilled!!

Gracie (Hello-Dolly) was beautifully ridden by Chanele Hunter, and we sincerely thank her for her dedication and enthusiasm.  We look forward to their future partnership in the up coming show season.

Our youngstock Leanda ponies also did us proud in the Riding Pony section.  Leanda Ace of Diamonds, owned by the Susan, Jean and Victoria Gorst was successful in taking out the Champion Yearling Gelding award.  Leanda Hello-There was sashed Champion 2yo Gelding, who is shown in conjunction with David Warde from Kinloch Stables.  Leanda In Favour (ET) was awarded Champion Show hunter Colt/Gelding and then Supreme Champion Show hunter.

We were delighted with our ‘girls’ who were placed in their filly classes.  Leanda Fancy Pants and Leanda Divine Miss were both placed 2nd in their filly classes, Leanda All A Glitter (ET) – the ‘original’ All A Glitter, placed 3rd in a very strong filly class with Leanda Hello-Darling placing 4th.  Photos of these fillies to be upload early next week.

We are looking forward to these babies competing at the Melbourne Summer Royal in a few weeks, with the addition of Leanda All That Glitters (ET), our 2007 Fenwick Carmen ET (filly) baby being shown in the Riding Pony Foal Class.

Our Barastoc team would not be complete without Angel Wings.  We are so honoured to have this pony and she delights us with everything she does.

Angel was the winner for the second consecutive year of the Open Led Pony 12.2hh and under section held on the Thursday.

This year was to be Claudia’s special year, for her and Angel to compete in the Leading Rein Tiny Tots Class.  Unfortunately due to an accident, Claudia broke her arm in early January after falling out of the net on her ‘jumpoloene’ that Santa had delivered for Christmas.  We have now had to postpone her special Barastoc year to 2009!

So with Claudia on the sidelines, Angel competed in the Peter Boyle and Associates First Ridden Pony of the Year and was declared the winner.  This class was judged by highly regarded judge Jerome Harforth from Stanley Grange Stud UK.  Angel and Grace then competed under lights in the International Challenge Saddle Pony of the Year and were thrilled to be awarded the Small Pony Section and were also the winner of the Horse Deals Best Music award.  The International Challenge section was judged by Mr David Dixon from the UK.

On the final day, after Saturday’s early start and very late night, Angel Wings and Grace stepped out in the open saddle section to produce a polished performance and they were declared the 2008 Small Pony of the Year.  A truly magical moment for all of us involved with our dear Angel.  She is a truly wonderful pony who is just so special to us all.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making Barastoc 2008 so great – David, Brendan, Karen, Wendy, Chanele and particularly Grace Hill for her dedication and love for riding our precious Angel.  We couldn’t do it without Grace and we look forward to the partnership for season ahead, with the addition of Claudia for the Leading Rein events.
