many thanks to Shirley ~ Horsewyse Magazine for coverage and report....

There are things you don’t expect to see at your average Dressage competition, but they were here.

1... A beautifully turned out Showpony type whose rider is in gales of laughter as her friend on the ground read her scores and remarks aloud from the just-collected sheet.

Finally, it is all too much and the rider gurgles. “Oh my GOD….that definitely has to be framed and hung on the wall!!!” So Eques ventures…”He must have gone really well…?” “Hell no!” is the reply, “It’s the WORST test he ever did!” But she’s still laughing.

2... A pre-teen muppet, having competed in the “Tiny Tots” event, fronts the Secretary’s table and asks can she please be a late entry in a higher-ranked test, “Because it’s so much FUN.”

3...All you can hear above the wind is voices as competitors in all five rings are having their tests called. This is not allowed even at Pony Club level but as the organisers say, “This is a Dressage competition, not a memory competition, and some people are riding four tests,”

4...A ‘caller’ and the rider in the arena on the affable grey pony are both grinning from ear to ear. It’s the pony’s first-ever Dressage tests and while he’s mystified as to why his rider is droobing around in this confined space, he’s willing to go along with it is that’s what she wants. But his circles are distinctly egg-shaped…..

This Pony Dressage Day is in it’s third year and is not getting the entry numbers and support it deserves.

That’s not a finger-wagging telling off you’re getting there, it’s the info that if you have a Pony and can get to Werribee in late April and you haven’t done it, you’re missing one of the most rewarding and happy events on the Victorian equestrian calendar.

So pencil it in for 2005 and keep an eye on Eques and Horsewyse Magazine for announcement of the date. You won’t regret it.

Considering the possibility of fitting mudflaps before their . next test…. Is Coke is a drug?
Norm Clark and the Welsh Cob stallion, Barnon Imperial Jack placed fourth in two tests. At his last Werribee outing (Barastoc) Jack beat 265 others to be Grand Champion Showhunter.

Whatever, Matitojo Sherdan and Nicki Kuiper did a brilliant Kur to music that was a mixture of the theme from “Miami Vice” and Scottish Highland tunes and were unbeatable. Which is why they look so pleased. Rain was forecast (it didn’t!) but an optimist always brings her sunglasses. Renee Kewish on Goldmine Solitaire.
The day was Dressage for ponies and this is definitely a Pony….
This competitor is preparing to call her friend’s test, Then she will hop on the Jakov, the Fjiord Pony, and ride HER test when Friend comes out and takes over. What she needs at this point is for the baby to be asleep and Jakov to be awake.  So what’s wrong with this picture? Broken in only six  months and until the Pony Dressage, a Dressage Virgin. Brion Bradigan ridden by Erin Wilson.

breeze.

above Matitojo Sherdan and Nicki Kuiper ride Test 1A. They did four on the day for a win and placings
