The 2009 Melbourne got under way today, in years gone by this show was the ‘be and end all show’ to be at, win or loose the fact that you got to Melbourne was the buzz. Now the horse section, well all animals and anything remotely agricultural about the Royal Melbourne is just an afterthought squeezed into what is left of the main arena.

Today hampered by rain .. desperately needed so no one is going to knock that, the arena events were there along with no atmosphere and extremely low exhibit numbers. Our beautiful giants of the show ring the Clydesdale  were light on in numbers – it is extremely hard when everyone still keeps comparing what we have now to what the RMS used be, but remember the line-ups in the clydie classes …huge, a magnificent sight to behold but no more. Today’s round up…..

The show jumping and rain proved to be a bit too much for some youngsters like two year old filly Murroka Leading Lass who just wanted to go home

while Marriott & Sons AArunga Flash Nicholas took it all in his stride
