2006 and another year has just flown straight past as seems like only yesterday we were here doing the same thing…  this year Decron was welcomed aboard as the naming right sponsors and welcomed they were, they have a nifty must have in your stable Hoof Care Kit which any good horse person knows the hassle of treating hoof ailments and taking shares in the gaffa tape industry is not funny, so make sure you check this product out you will be suitably impressed! then of course the very much faithful sponsors all of which make this event available to those competiting and to those admiring to one day be here competing at. The committee under the new head chief Peter Gardiner had the show running as smooth as, Pam Davey stepped down but left everything in such a way Peter picked up the reins and the event ran like clock work, committee workers have just got it so in-hand now and the event management support... five stars to Jam Smith this lady works incredibly hard behind the scene, we should also take time out to say 'thanks Jan' you do a superb job with these events and of course all the ground crew who worked tirelessly over the 2 days.

Leading Rein

Well what a highlight for welsh breeders when the lovely Tarragon Gabrielle  'Welsh A'  pictured opposite took the broad sash, this delightful pony kept a calm mind in the big arena to work ever so sweetly for her young jockey, to say picture perfect would about sum it right up.

The field of leading rein ponies was strong but sadly some were over whelmed when they hit the indoors. The runner up Vic Flowerdale Victor was ridden by Grace Hill, and this was another sweet combination to watch going.

The Show Hunter Ponies –small

as per the normal the smaller the jockey the more gun-ho they were about showing what their pony could do, even though the ages were quite young of these junior riders they have the most professional approach and not for a minute do they let their guard down with lots of ring craft thrown in.

The competition across the board with the smaller ponies was fairly even. The eventual winner was a polished and smooth performance by Elliot Patterson QLD Craigston Mirra Charm ridden by Laura Allen Ducat, runner up Sharon Jarvis WA Bandeeka Ffanci ridden by Madeleine McAvaney.

The Show Hunter Pony - Large

General observation... there was a small percentage of 'fast' work going on, perhaps many were over awed by the indoors but it was a shame as there was some lovely animals that would have looked more pleasing to the eye if they were actually using that extra energy to work from behind and into the bit [easy to say when fence sitting of course] but on the whole there was no doubt why any of these ponies where here, the are all champions…

The large show hunter pony was won by Belaradah Fantasia of Vic  pictured opposite ridden by Lisa Kellock, runner up was Tiffany Bignold NSW Glo-Brook Legend, the scores show these two ponies as equal, as both had received a 1st and 2nd placing, after discussions the awards were placed as above.
