the 2007   APSB STUD SHOW
this year was the 42nd running of this what can only be described as a smorgous board of ponies in all shapes and sizes... been helded at the Bendigo showgrounds was meet with approval and some disapproval from some members, but looking at the grounds packed with floats and trucks it appeared more approvals showed up than the 'don't approves'. I am already bias towards Bendigo, to me getting up there is a welcome break from the world, the town itself holds a lot to entertain so you can cross the showing with a mini holiday if you plan it right.

The first day and the weather was perfect, but the darn wind that kept coming up made it a tiring day for those of us that had to be out there all day, today was the day you could see each different bred perform under saddle from the mighty Shetlands to the grand highlanders, a day that spectators were sure not to be bored with.

So what is the APSB all about? .......I think the photo on the left of Ashleigh Glascott  just about sums it up

APSB PART-BRED

Lovely quality across the board within these classes, Champion senior was from Shirrine Park Stud – Shirrine Gamekeeper a handsome grey gelding with reserve W H Oakford & A Reeve - Headley Park Heaven Sent, for the junior champion it was Miss Kelly Gloede - Montrose Etched In Silk, reserve was Mrs Sharyn Mangan- Uhavta Royal Enchantment.

The supreme, well both exhibits were in with a good running but it was Montrose  Etched in Silk taking the sash for his second year in a row, standing at around 14.1’ish this is one young horse that I feel we will see in years to come under saddle right up there within HOY line ups.

Champion Saddle Partbred Pony was Miss Elke & Britt Holmberg - Winfield Eternity, a really lovely black gelding that each year you see him has improved and is a delight to watch perform, the reserve was Shirrine Park Stud - Shirrine Gamekeeper, making it a great weekend for this gentle gelding.

APSB RIDING PONY

Champion Led Stallion/Colt was Mrs Julie Shevlin-Ballarat: Naruni Park Regal Cascade, Champion Led Pony Mare Uhavta Stud-Swan Hill: Uhavta Buttons & Bows (Ai) the sweetest little bay mare who has had much success in hand, reserve  as G & J  Mamouney-Bendigo: Illangi Profile, Champion Led Filly was  Uhavta Stud-Swan Hill: Uhavta Royal Emerald and reserve Mrs Shandelle Parkes-Ranceby: Cherishwood Ohh La La, Shandelle follwed up this reserve with Champion Led Gelding with her Darlton Park Royal Octave and reserve was Mrs S & V Carfrae-Korumburra: Evelyn Park Mischief Maker.

Once again another line up of typey ponies to compete for the Supreme which went to Naruni Park Regal Cascade such a great type which judge Sandra Olney decided as her choice in a tough field for the sash.

Champion Ridden was Angela & Beverly Carter -Nar Nar Goon: Thorwood Royal Scandal and reserve was G & J  Mamouney-Bendigo: Illangi Profile, who also won the Best Newcomer award as well.

Champion Childs Saddle Pony Partbred / Riding Pony, this was a class that was judged so spot on by Sandra Olney, probably the first time many have actually witnessed the true finding of a ‘childs show pony’ with Mrs Jodie Pacelli  Ashmark Deliverance taking the sash for the Championships and another super kids pony been reserve C & C Waugh  November Rain.
