While the big 40 is looming on the horizon, this year is a special celebration of the return to showing after six long months of worry and grief. It's not only the great competition that is bringing people to the event, it's the chance at last to meet and greet, to socialise and enjoy each others company, and that's something we have been totally starved of since the fateful day in August when our world collapsed.
Major sponsors Barastoc had this to say "The fact that the 39th Barastoc Horse of the Year has record numbers of competitors has demonstrated to us how frustrated riders have been, and how keen they are to return to competition. We are delighted to be able to assist by sponsoring this outstanding Show" well thankyou Barastoc! we sure are keen"
Like we have mentioned before it is
jammed packed, there is no way you can even imagine the size of this
event, you really have to be here.. but for those than can not be,
imagine not been able to walk a step without bumping into a rump or
someone you know :)
.....and so the show begins, once again Thursday Saddle-Up the great sponsors of this day are with us and the polo field was amass of beautiful horse flesh, all there for the chance of taking home a placing in this strong and wonderfully supported day of in-hand exhibits.
the Saddle-Up Champions of today are:
Pink Elephant Parking ....you know the place where one leaves their car while they escape to Noosa for a week rest after Barastoc [..I can wish] sponsored the Leading rein Hunter Pony and about time the Hunter types were recognized for their ability as great kids starters [another 1st brought to you by the Barastoc committee this class] The winner of this hotly contender for event was TOORAVALE OLIVIA and Michael Ridis, a major effort considering it was such a class with all ponies so suited and huge. DREAMTIME PARK a stud recognized for producing outstanding performance stock not just at the end of the lead but under saddle as well, their stock has been seen at Royals far and near taking broad sashes sponsored the First Ridden Hunter Pony and while the leading rein class before was a delight to the eye, this class was classic in type and the true definition of what any parent would feel at ease popping their beloved little pet on. The winner was LYKANARRO ROGER ROCKET owned by Tricia Moloney, true in type and true in mind, but from a super field of sure footed ponies. |
