 Introducing
the "Saddle-Up Thursday"
today was the start of something that is destine to grow into one
of the largest showcase for in-hand show stock, normally with something
so new numbers are low....
not the case here, these classes have been a long time in coming and
competitors have left little doubt to the show organizers and sponsors
Saddle-Up
 they appreciate the inclusion of in-hand stock. Some stunning
exhibits graced the polo fields today, even with uncomfortable
temperatures the support was terrific. Just two of the excellent
exhibits that stood out were War Wind - this magnificent handsome grey
was well worthy on the Champion in-hand show hunter of the year, one of
my favorites I have always loved him under saddle but the lad can hold
his own when stripped down for the led. Another horse you just couldn't
miss was Tudor Park Salisbury shown and owned by Clint Bilson ...Malcom
of Tudor Park said he had found a very special horse and true to form of
Malcolm's great eye for a star here he was, and receiving the garland
for Champion Newcomer of the year.
It was not only the led but an array of
junior events that were well supported, the committee had no option left than
to carry the classes on into the night in the indoor, from ridden
hunters, to show horses the exhibits entered was staggering, making it a
long day. Once again the organizers came through, due to the events
running into the night, a free sausage sizzle was offered to all....
that meant one night of my poor cooking attempts I was saved from.
 On the whole the Saddle-Up Thursday
was a hit! while there may have been some teething problems with classes
running over time, exhibiters can rest in the knowledge true to Barastoc
HOY organization skills that next year it will be spot on, and really who cares
if today went over the times ...a minor hiccup considering what the
organizers have given breeders, showies, on the whole a super new format,
I think we can all take a little back-step and say 'thanks' and also
a big thank you to Saddle-Up ....who are on the ground in the trade fair
for the whole weekend, so please make sure you pop in and say thanks to
Lynne and Bill for the day.
So while the kick start to the show
was a fantastic day, I would just take this time to reflect on the
enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scene months, ahead by
the workers of this show to make it was it is today, truly Australia's
premium show that is recognized all over the world, we know our visitors
to Eques as Barastoc unfolds is records record hits, with the UK
especially waiting on the results and photos. Personally been on the end
of the line behind the scenes I can truly appreciate people ....the
volunteers who put in with their time and expertise's.
