Well its been a long, long time between drinks.... but as EI restrictions ease off the shows are heading in thick and fast, kicking off in Tasmanian with no less than their Horse of the Year show was a great way to start a welcome back in our freedom.

Judges for the day were: Geoff Beard, Sally Redpath and Amamda Edwards. Held at the Hobart Royal Show Grounds, under overcast conditions to start with the Newcomers were making their debut, in the Small Pony Newcomer the delightful winner was Victorian bred Staton Park Seven Up with F Clarke and the runner up was Naturi Midas and S way. The next class to go was the Large Pony Newcomer and some impressive ponies fronted up for this class but drawing most eyes was the very lovely, forward going Fairfield Fontyn and B Warren, who won the class, runner up another lovely pony Wynton Make a Wish and D Zeiser. The Newcomer Galloway was won by Millawarrah Miami and S Haywood and the runner up was Glenrowan Gold Pass and H Wright. The hacks are certainly strong in Tas, Newcomer Hack was a really lovely animal that will mature up very nicely, winner Royal Emblem and C Deavin, runner up was Sin City and K Evans.

Next up was the Rising Stars, and making it two broad sashes was Staton Park Seven Up the dainty little grey is such a honest performer and also runner the real little cutie Naturi Midas. Rising Star Large Pony and again it was dual win for the day for Fairfield Fontyn and runner up was L. Moore's Sanlirra Toffee Apple. Rising Star Galloway saw a healthier line up as far as numbers go and both winner and runner up were superb types, P. McMinn's Rathowen South Wind was this years winner and N. Gibson's Rivers Teagan the runner up. A great line up for the Rising Star Hack class with the winner F. McCarthy on Abbey Lane and runner up was A. Fletcher's CL King William.
