The Adelaide royal would have to be one of the best … the weather was spot on for the first 2 days and just while you were thinking on keeping the summer clothes on hand it turned and in that we saw a few equines bucking the system, clearly feeling fresh. The rider classes were well numbered, well known and much respected young rider Tessa Hughes kicked of her royal wining the Girl rider, 10 years and under 12 years , with in order of placing; Jaime Stichel, Brooke Graham, Lauren Ellis, Phoebe Bowen and Dayna Walker-Matthews. Girl or Boy rider, 5 years and under 8 years Hannah Woollatt, with in order of placing; Grace Hill, Hayley Norman, Brynie Lee, Bianca Smith and Charles Mumford. Girl or Boy rider, 8 years and under 10 years Thomas Madigan, with in order of placing; Jasmine Anderson, Brooke Egel-Eaton, Victoria Gorst, Caitlin Keith and Jessica Dunn, Boy rider, 10 years and under 14 years Mitchell Fox ,with in order of placing; Nicholas Lundquist, Thomas Struck, Steven Dempsey, Dylan Dunn and Grayden Richter. Girl rider, 12 years and under 14 years Beau Cunning, then in order of placing Demi Morrison, Sophie Cunning, Katelin Clark, Naomi Karutz and Courtney Remington. Junior Champion Equestrian was won by Barbara Begley, with reserve Sophie Coleman, the intermediate champion equestrian was Prue Chamberlian and reserve was Sarah O’Connor. The novice classes so far were large classes for most and on scale this would have seen some of the best in the country on show. Novice Galloway: Donlea Grand Moment owned and ridden by Leanne Donoghue won the novice 14-14.2hh, with Alana Bain’s Sanlirra Larrikan winner of the 14.2-15hh class – ridden by Francesca Christie. Two exceptional Galloway’s and both worked well, but Larrikan just sat up and was that little more finished on the morning in his way of going to win the Best Novice Galloway for 2006. Either of these two galloways are worthy of watching as the seasons unfold. Novice Ponies: novice 12 hands Tibooburra Matilda ridden by Clayton Struck, novice over 12 - 12.2 hands Jan Langley’s Langtree Evening Star, novice over 12.2 - 13 hands R Butler & A Smiley Standing Ovation and 13 - 13.2 hands Sue Bulling Sanlirra Just Gossip, and 13.2-14hh Barrington Park Super Model Alice Sultan. Best Novice Pony went to Barrington Park Super Model ridden by Francesca Christie. Open Ponies: winner of the under 11hh was Wornora Napoleon, Karrie Shattell, 11-11.2hh was Rivington Hylain, Sarah Bradshaw, winner of the 11.2-12hh was the stunning and with out a doubt the most delightful pony of this time Leanda Stud - McMahon & McCormick Silkwood Angel Wings, 12-12.2 was Jan Langleys Langtree Evening Star, lovely ponies but take a day with jumpers thumping around up the arena, Angel who in type is so feminine and just has that way of sitting up into the bit and working so sweetly stole the show and came home with the Champion Small Pony Hack, runner up was Langtree Evening Star. Pony 12.2-13hh was Langtree Double Delight – Jordan McDowall, 13-13.2hh Sanlirra just Gossip all grown up now and what a lovely pony he as matured into owned by Sue Bulling, 13.2-14hh Barrington Park Super Model moved on from her novice status to take the win in open, the work with the senior ponies was very even, perhaps with Sanlirra just Gossip standing out that bit more, Super Model looked a tad tense and didn’t really settle into the contact but in type she is rather special…. the sort of pony that you know with another season under her belt she is going to be one pony that would be hard to beat, so it would have been a wonderful surprise for her contacts to see her take out the championships, with Sanlirra Just Gossip taking the reserve. Childs Ponies: Silkwood Angel Wings was on a roll and after watching her manner she is everything any parent would want for their child, she won the under 12hh class, and with a foot perfect, sweet workout won the championships, Jordan McDowall had Langtree Double Delight living up to his name to win the 12-13hh class and reserve, Sabrina Jaaeschke and Newington Piccadilly won the 13-14hh class. |
