the Gawler Horse Festival

In front of a strong crowd of equine people and other dignitaries at the Gawler Harness Racing Club on Friday night, Gawler Mayor Tony Piccolo and Face of the festival John Letts launched the extensive Program of the 2005 Gawler Horse Festival.

Numerous people have worked extremely hard to bring this fantastic community event together, Mayor Piccolo said. The Steinborner Holden Gawler Horse Festival and the large diversity of events involved in it, once again brings the local area to the forefront of the equine industry.

There is a strong sense of community in Gawler and various groups should be proud of what they have been able to put together in this large program John Letts, the face of the festival said This is a fantastic shot in the arm for two great clubs The Gawler Harness Racing Club and The Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club, what a fantastic concept to have them combine to hold their respective Cups on the same weekend !

Let me add, I am blown away with what has been put together aside from the two Cup meetings! With more than 30 disciplines being undertaken through the four-day festival, which will include more than 1000 participants and millions of dollars in horseflesh. This event will reinstate Gawler as the premier location in South Australia for equine activities.

We have been working hard to ensure this is a great weekend for people from both within the horse industry, and it has a strong appeal to the broader community, said Event Director, Keith Kelly From the events for juniors to both the harness and thoroughbred Gawler Cups, and with arguably one of Gawler s best ever street concerts plus dynamic attractions, we are keen to involve as many people as possible. This is a community event and reinforcing this is that through the generous support of Steinborner Holden and AMCOR Australia.
