The
Horse Riding Clubs and Associations of Victoria are a 3500 strong
equestrian body designed to offer fun and learning to horse riders.
Families ride
together, all riders are “level assessed” so that people of the same level
of experience or talent get to compete on a “level playing field.”
It’s a very fast
growing group, and with enquiries coming in for starter packs from other
states, it can be seen that in the not too distant future, that the HRCAV
could well become the riding clubs of Australia.
There are five
levels of riders. Level five being the least experienced, and level one
the most experienced. The sports held include showing, showjumping,
eventing, combined training and navigation rides, and the HRCAV monthly
magazine carries details of forthcoming events.
The showjumping
committee of the HRCAV got together to encourage showjumping competitions,
and so a new competition hosted by clubs with a keen interest in promoting
showjumping, generously sponsored by Doncaster BMW.
The
"5 Star" theme was chosen as 5 clubs are involved in the competition and
Doncaster BMW is currently promoting its 5 Series automobiles - a perfect
match!
More than 200 riders
competed over the five events, and it’s fair to say that everyone had a
great time. The organisers were thanked at the presentations by all
present, and, although they no doubt had their share of problems in coping
with the running of a large series like this, they never faltered.
The first event of
the Series was held by Hurstbridge & District ARC in May. The Monash,
Wyena, Donvale and the final rounds at WRECAR Club last weekend where
presentations were made.
The rules were:
-
The basic concept
of the Series has been copied from the Golden Spurs Dressage
competitions and adjusted slightly to cater for Showjumping. Rules are
as follows:
-
HRCAV rules apply,
unless otherwise specified for the purpose of this competition Series
only.
-
Entry into the
Series is included in the normal Event entry fee.
-
The Series is made
up of 5 separate Events held over a 5-month period.
-
Each Event is made
up of 2 components: The normal showjumping competition placings for
which ribbons/trophies will be awarded; and placings in the nominated
classes (refer program) at each level will attract Series points.
-
The Series will
place to 6th in each Level 1 through 5.
-
Series points will
be allocated to a horse/rider combination in the level in which they
were gained, on a sliding scale: 1st = 6 points, 2nd
= 5 points, 3rd = 4 points, 4th = 3 points, 5th
= 2 points, 6th = 1 point.
-
1 point will be
awarded to a horse/rider combination for participation in an Event.
-
If a horse/rider
combination points up a level during the Series any Series points gained
in both levels will be amalgamated. The horse/rider combination will be
eligible for Series placing in the level in which they competed the
majority of Events. Eg. If a horse/rider gains Series points from 3
Events in Level 4 and 2 Events in Level 3, the points would be
amalgamated and the horse/rider is eligible for Series placing in Level
4.
-
Where there is a
change of horse/rider combination during the Series the new combination
starts afresh from that point in the Series. Any points earned by the
original combination will remain eligible for Series placings.
-
A count back will
be used to determine a clear winner in each level in the case of a tie.
-
Presentations to
the Series competition winners will be made at the end of the
competition at WRECAR on September 26.
-
Decisions made by
the organising committee are final.
